Celebrating a Milestone: 9,000 Pounds of Upcycled Waste!

We are thrilled to share an incredible achievement with our community: Upcycled has officially surpassed 9,000 pounds of upcycled waste! This milestone is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and dedication to a greener future. Each pound represents the hard work of our team, volunteers, and the amazing residents of Howard County, Anne Arundel County, and Baltimore City who have supported our mission.

Since our founding, we have worked tirelessly to give single-use plastics a second life. Through programs like Waste to Wonder, we’ve transformed these materials into garden beds, benches, and other long-lasting building materials, benefiting schools, parks, and community spaces. Together, we’ve turned waste into resources and shown that sustainability is not just a goal—it’s a movement.

Continuing the Mission: Waste Warriors Expands

As we celebrate this incredible milestone, we’re also looking ahead to the next phase of our journey. We’re excited to announce that our Waste Warriors education program will continue with ten additional workshops in 2025! These workshops will empower youth and community members to understand the impact of plastic waste and learn hands-on ways to make a difference.

Our Waste Warriors program has already reached many students and community members through engaging, hands-on lessons From trail cleanups to crafting with recycled materials, participants leave with a deeper understanding of environmental stewardship and the tools to inspire change in their own lives.

We believe that education is the key to long-term change, and through Waste Warriors, we’re building a generation of eco-conscious leaders ready to take on the plastic crisis.
